Excerpt: - As she slips into the role of Umrao Jaan everyone (on the sets spoken to) seems to be talking about her dedication and drive. Says her director JP Dutta, “With her head tilted slightly to one side, Ash seems to be giving away nothing on her face. She absorbs the details, and then goes to the camera for an emotion-spill.” As Umrao she strikes one as being as poised and in-control …as Rekha in Muzaffar Ali's Umrao Jaan, though Ash is supposed to be a far better dancer. “In a gorgeous other-worldly creation designed by Anna Singh, Aishwarya Rai looks…ethereal, as though she belongs to another era,” raves Divya Dutta, who plays her sister, to add, “Isn't she lovely? People generally believe extraordinarily beautiful people are either dumb or badmaash. Ash completely disproves that.” Source: +the+new-age+Umrao+Jaan&hl=en,http://72.14.203.104 /search?q=cache:_XPViqyXFycJ:www.mumbaimirror.com/ nmirror/mmpaper.asp%3Fsectid%3D10%26sectname%3DEnt ertainment%26sess%3D213792372+Aishwarya,+the+new-a ge+Umrao+Jaan&hl=en |

Bollyvista.com The latest grapevine is that Shabana Azmi will play Aishwarya's mother in J.P Dutta's remake of 'Umrao Jaan'. This will be the first time that Shabana and Aishwarya will be cast together. Incidentally, Shabana's mother Shaukat Azmi played an integral part in the 1981 'Umrao Jaan' by Muzaffar Ali.

Aishwarya Rai has been chosen by JP Dutta to play a Umrao in Umrao Jaan, and she'll also work with the director in Maharani Gayathri Devi. Incidently the article also states Aishwarya was due to work in a Walt Disney Production but is no longer doing it. I'm nosey! I wonder which one it was... http://www.glamsham.com/movies/scoops/05/jun/23ais h.asp |
