Updates on B&P

Excerpts: -
Interestingly, Bride and Prejudice, which stars Aishwarya Rai, Namrata Shirodkar and Martin Henderson, will also be released as a dubbed Hindi version.

On a fleeting visit to Mumbai, Nayar said, “We have titled the Hindi version Balle Balle — Amritsar to LA!” He added that the lyrics, by Farhan and Zoya Akhtar, have been translated into Hindi by Javed Akhtar.

Taking time off from filming in the British Council Library, Aishwarya Rai talks to Connecting.

Excerpts: -

Connecting: Did Gurinder make you all study Pride and Prejudice, the Jane Austen novel on which the film is based?
Aishwarya: No no no. She definitely did want to know if we'd read the Jane Austen novel or knew it. I've read it in the past, at school, but I didn't want to read it again. Because, even though my character is Lizzie, I did not want to play just Lizzie as we know in the novel. I also needed to be the teacher as Gurinder had conceived her. And I didn't want to see previous film versions and be influenced by earlier performances - you are human so, every time you do a scene, in your mind's eye is the performance delivered before, and you're bound to get coloured. And I think when a director goes ahead and makes their own approach to a novel or a film, you have to be given a degree of leniency. You have to co-operate with the director's vision and with the other actors and the technical team. What first attracted me as an actor to Bride and Prejudice was this fresh approach.  It is very easy to say 'fresh' but it's not at all easy to achieve it. So I knew the novel; I'd read it earlier. But I didn't want this to be too influential and this is definitely Gurinder's version.

Bride and Prejudice Preview

Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/films/bollywood/2003/11/bride_and_prejudice_preview.shtml

Excerpts: -

Aishwarya Rai plays the role of Lalita with great versatility. Her recent release titled Choker Bali won her praises whilst her role as Paro in the Bollywood epic Devdas (2002) won her the prestigious best actress Filmfare Award.

We will see her once again, gracing the UK mainstream silver screen in Bride and Prejudice.

Aishu as Lalita

B&P is generating lot of curiosity among British audiences. It'll be premiered at National Arts Cinema in London, and all it's stars are likely to attend.

I must say the quality is poor but the movie looks AWESOME!!! (And with Pathé, I should see the movie in France if the Gods are with me lol)
