You are right Muztaba. In fact you can see my post dated Sunday, April 24, 2005, where I requested to put an end to this debate by providing a comprehensive information. Hope there won't be any further discussion on this topic.

What’s going here man. First religion, then community, then vegetarian and non-vegetarian and now the caste and start microscopic scrutiny whether she is Brahmin or not. Its very much sensitive issue and I think such type of discussion should be stopped right now. Isnt it?

Hey Arjit,
Are you sure Aishwarya is Brahmin? I highly doubt she is. If I am wrong, pardon me. But it looks like she is non-vegetarian and the fact that she is in the movies/modeling world itself is not really "Brahminical". Perhaps I'm too old-fashioned. LOL.. Although her looks are telling of a Brahmin girl...

Please refrain from talking about castes because it sounds archaic, and I thought India got rid of that mentality ages ago - if humanity is the greatest religion, as you say, then there is only one caste - the caste of humanity.

Please end this debate once and for all.

I think humanity is the greatest religion.
Aishu is Human first, then an Indian and finally a Hindu. Aishu is from Bunt community and is Brahmin by caste. Her mother tongue is Tulu. Aishu is God's greatest creation.

Yes she's hindu - but you know what? Arguing over which religion she is rocks the foundation of hinduism anyway. We organisms are all one big family, and even if she is atheist, it doesn't make the SLIGHTEST BIT OF DIFFERENCE. Just love, people - that's all we need.

On 60 minutes, she prays in the Hindu temple to Hindu Gods. I'm pretty sure that means she's Hindu.

LOL! U guys are all so hilarious. In her 60 minutes interview, Aishwarya took her interviewer Bob Simon to a Siddhivinnayaka temple. They even show us a statue of Lord Ganesh (a hindu god) and aishwarya praying to him. Even so, her religion really doesnt matter guys. She doesnt judge neone on their religion (previous boyf. Salman Kahn is muslim) and neither should anyone else. I'm sure she loves you all - but i understand why simmy wanted to know.
Take Care.

Hey ppl u r debating on some trivial matter....
how much does this matter?
Anway, u ppl shud kno some basics:
She is a Mangalorean 'Rai', belonging to Bunt community. Shetty's also come from the same community. This is a Hindu community.
But for me it doesnt matter wot community she comes from, what religion she follows, wot country she belongs to...
I jus cant do without her!! I luv her like anything....

I am sure if you send her greetings for each n every festival 4 each n every religion, she'll be equally happy to receive each one of them and you'll probably get her good wishes too, provided she has time to do so. I am sure u are aware of the fact that Aishu is extremely busy.

aishwarya rai is a strange name, simply cause im south indian and this is north indian name

it obviously related to Iswarya, a south indian name

Iswarya obviously is a fiminine version of the HINDU god Iswara

this obviously leads to her being Hindu

hi,

Ash is born in Mangalore, karnataka state, which is very close to Coorg & she is Tulu.

It should not matter what religion a person is, all that should matter is that they have a good heart, which ash has.

But has she never mentioned publicly in an interview or something what her religion is? It's shouldn't be so difficult to find out? What's her parent's background?

It's a movie, that doesn't mean anything for certain. I'm pretty sure she's Hindu. And if she isn't, it doesn't matter to me. The essence of all religions is one, and that is Truth.

Hi everyone!
About her religion, I think she's a Christian because in the movie "Josh" she had the sacred bread that Christians have. You are not allowed to have that unless you are a Christian and had the sacrament.
