I don't think they are BEGGING her to present, but I wouldn't put it past them to ask her, Afterall miramax (producers of Bride) have a huge influence over the academy, which is very well known, and Ash is known to many academy members and winners like Michael Douglas, Harvey Weinstein, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, many directors etc. plus when Aamir Kahn was at the oscars coz of lagaan-he himself stated, the people there kept asking about aishwarya, and this was even before the release of Devdas. :-) of course, it COULD all be false!! who knows??

And orlando bloom falied to turn up to last years oscars to present, when lotr won 11 oscars, because of film commitments, so it's not like it's never happend before. Although orlando is presenting an oscar this year. :-)

yeah...the trend is that the indian media keep talking about pregrammes like jay leno, although i haven't heard anything from her side. And her oprah segment is on next month! :p As for mistress...well gurinder chadha is on record as saying that her husbands directorial debut "mistress" is far more important to him than the oscars...and he doesnt HAVE to let ASH go. Like I said before...I wanna see whether Gurinder turns up at the oscars to see whether the indian media rumours have any substance at all. I don't think aishwarya is that dazzled by the oscars though. She might be

MIssing a chance to present at oscar's so she can continue with "Mistres..."
RITE!!
And why I possibly mite not show up, although oscar people have been down on their knees beggin me, is cuz i have to shampoo the carpet...
Way to insult our intelligence.
PS: Wahtever happened to oprah and Jay leno? Anyone else see a trend?

mmm i agree with you...infact i probably think she doesn't even know these reports have surfaced in the first place. But even if she doesn't turn up, i want to find out whether Gurinder Chadha turns up, because if these rumours are to be believed, she's supposed to turn up with the deputy chairperson of the academy as a date, to the oscars. I doubt ash can go though because of mistress right?? Or maybe this is yet another false scenario set up by the indian media to discredit her further.

I think her publcity agents should stop trying to promote her this way by creating lies. I mean look at the Bond issue. It got her instant international publicity but in the end it only made her look like a liar. Now we the fans certainly don't want the world to think she is just a media attention seeking wannabe.

i totallllllllllllly agree with you!!
and i dont think the "academy to begging ash to present" is true..because honestly...no one even knows aishwarya like that..(the american people) no one in my school knows her every time i bring up her name..they are like "who the hell is that" and many people in the U.S dont really know her..compared to the big stars out there...so this publicity thing and rumors are getting annoying

This morning there were reports that Ash was invited to the Oscars to present. How can that be possible? Presenters were chosen a long time back- As the Academy Awards denied inviting her-Who starts these rumors because I have noticed that lots of rumors "get started" about Ash and her future endeavors (hint: James Bond, Brad Pitt, not to mention Helen of Troy in the movie Troy). Is this a media ploy or something her agents do to keep her in the news? Breaking into HOllywood requires a great deal of publicity and there is no such thing as bad publicity. I mean, the Academy Awards is "begging Ash to present" but Madame Rai is too busy to come. Although this is no fault of Ash's- but too much hype can work against her, especially when this hype bears no fruit.
