The recent attacks against
Aishwarya Rai about her choice of outfits worn to the opening of Bride and Prejudice last week are totally unfair and untrue.
“Nowadays there is such a fine line between true journalists and gossip columnists that I find it contemptible when a gossip columnist disguises themselves as a responsible journalist and prints nothing but hate and negativity”, says
Simone Sheffield, Rai’s International Manager.
Major designers and stylists, as well as reporters are there to report the facts from an objective point of view and not use the media for personal attacks on anyone, as they did with Rai at the Cannes Film Festival two years ago.
The facts are as follows:
Fact #1 – Ms. Rai only wears fake fur and encourages fellow celebrities to do the same.
Fact #2 - Ms Rai has selected fashion giant
Giorgio Armani as her international designer of choice. Armani is the world's wealthiest designer, according to Forbes' Celebrity 100, with more than 2000 stores worldwide and billions of dollars in annual sales.
In addition to Aishwarya Rai, other Armani clients include
Richard Gere, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Michelle Pfeiffer, Matt Damon, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt, Halle Berry, Russell Crowe and Robert DeNiro.
Fact #3 - Mr. Armani appoints a stylist from one of his stores to select full outfits for any given event. The outfits are then brought to Ms. Rai to be fitted and gracefully worn.
Fact #4 - Ms. Rai finds Armani designs not only beautiful, but also very comfortable to wear.
Is it too much to ask for certain members of the press, Indian designers and stylists to appreciate the vast positive exposure India receives every time Aishwarya steps onto the international stage?
To make such vile statements based on an outfit without knowing the facts is both childish and unprofessional.
One should simply find out the facts first before commenting. Not one valid press request ever goes unanswered and a
simple verification is always welcome.
In regards to Ms. Rai, she is bridging the gap between two of the most powerful entertainment industries in the world. The support she receives from her millions of fans is well noted based on the thousands of emails she receives daily from every country worldwide.
“No longer does such malice and judgmental pettiness rest within India alone…. the world is now watching.”, says Sheffield.
